A Welcome To Motherhood quilt isn’t as common a gift as a wedding or bat-mitzvah quilt, but it should be. We make a fuss over the new baby when the mother has done the work. Going against the modern trend for brighter, more stand-out decor, Betsy wanted something quaintly old fashioned with an emphasis on pinks and dusty rose. The unbleached muslin background adds to the antique look.

The pattern is called Jewel Box, and it’s one of our most popular. It goes by many names and dates back to the late 19th century.
